Ken Livingstone

A New Beginning

I guess most of you guys have watched this speech online. And I bet some of you watched it live this morning right after subuh.

Well..I’m not going to make comments like what I did to Datuk Syed Zainal’s and Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s speeches.

Personally, this one is among the best speeches from President Obama  I ever watched. Especially when the subject  got something to do with me.

However, as he said, no single speech can eradicate years of mistrust..

To President Obama..I’m touched by your words..And I really appreciate your efforts so far to engage and open a new chapter with the Muslim world..

Now it’s time for you to walk the talk during your tenure..

And this one is for those who are scuffling for power in Perak..

Listen to his speech starting at min 35:49 till min 40..What he pointed out might give you some lessons on democracy and how you can stay in power longer (of course la stay in power to serve the people).

But I do have an unyielding belief that all people yearn for certain things:  the ability to speak your mind and have a say in how you are governed; confidence in the rule of law and the equal administration of justice; government that is transparent and doesn’t steal from the people; the freedom to live as you choose.  These are not just American ideas; they are human rights.  And that is why we will support them everywhere.  (Applause.)

Now, there is no straight line to realize this promise.  But this much is clear:  Governments that protect these rights are ultimately more stable, successful and secure.  Suppressing ideas never succeeds in making them go away.  America respects the right of all peaceful and law-abiding voices to be heard around the world, even if we disagree with them.  And we will welcome all elected, peaceful governments — provided they govern with respect for all their people.

This last point is important because there are some who advocate for democracy only when they’re out of power; once in power, they are ruthless in suppressing the rights of others.  (Applause.)  So no matter where it takes hold, government of the people and by the people sets a single standard for all who would hold power:  You must maintain your power through consent, not coercion; you must respect the rights of minorities, and participate with a spirit of tolerance and compromise; you must place the interests of your people and the legitimate workings of the political process above your party.  Without these ingredients, elections alone do not make true democracy.

Satelit Pertama Iran

Boikot 2

I previous posts, I have talked a little bit on boycott which I did question why our government as a whole do not impose sanction on products from companies or countries that support Israel financially. And today I read this statement from Tun Mahathir’s book  which more or less vindicating that such action is quite impossible. Its actually taken from his speech at MUSAIDS International Trade Fair in Istanbul Turkey on Sept 15th 2004.

Trade is enriching. No doubt countries can grow through trade. Malaysia has grown because of trade. Malaysian trade is twice the size of its GDP. What this means can be gleaned from the corresponding figures for Japan and America whose trade, although very big, is less than 20 percent of their GDP. Malaysia is the 17th biggest trading nation in the world.

Unfortunately this means that Malaysia has become too trade dependent. And worse still although it trades with almost 200 countris and areas, its biggest trading partners are the United States and Europe. Should these trading partners decide to apply sanction against Malaysia, we would be in very grave trouble.

And don’t forget to read his view on boycott campaign here.

2 Resolusi

Alhamdulillah. Bukan sekadar mengutuk.

So what if Obama was a Muslim or an Arab?

I watched this news last night live on TV. I was pleased to hear such a great comment made by her. But I didn’t realize how pinnacle it was till I read this email forwarded in MISG.net YG. I post the video and the email forwarded here. For the sake of sharing.Thank you for your attentions.

Assalamu ‘alaikum warahmatuallah to whom ever this reaches:

Earlier today, October 13, 2008, I was watching the news on CNN and Campbell Brown, one of the major anchors for CNN, made an unbelievable breakthrough in mainstream media. This was an extremely courageous act on her part and it was the first time I had heard anyone in American media talk about Islam and Muslims like this. Here is the link to the segment of what she said:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LXMMmfd1lw

if the link does not work, simply go to YouTube and type in “Cambell Brown Arab” in the search box and it should be the first video on the top of the list.

Please, if we as proud American Muslims always condemn any negative talk about our beloved religion, WE MUST praise and commend those that speak good, ESPECIALLY on American television. Please take 2 minutes of your time to email Cambell Brown by commenting on her very courageous words and expressing your appreciation and gratitude. Here is the link that will take you straight to the e-mail center:

PLEASE SEND TO EVERYONE IN YOUR EMAIL LIST, WE MUST ACT FAST OR ELSE IT DEFEATS THE PURPOSE!

Jazakumallahukhair and May Allah reward you for your time and efforts (ameen).

Lagi Mengenai Krisis Subprima

Salam
